For VISA’s VIP area at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and select U.S. locations, I designed the Perfect Pint experience—an interactive AR kiosk that automatically poured the perfect pint of beer while showcasing VISA’s tap-to-pay technology. The result was a playful narrative around beer and soccer, that delighted guests and created a moment of delight.

Keeping users engaged during the 60-second beer pour relied on a clever content strategy that turned tap-to-pay technology into a playful interaction. I conceptualized three animated sequences across almost one hundred frames that blended absurdly fun correlations—like World Cup wins and national beer consumption—with a data-driven Visa brand narrative. The result drew people in, kept them laughing, and made the technology genuinely entertaining while showcasing the client’s investment. Each visitor was rewarded with AR facepaint of their favorite World Cup team alongside their perfectly poured beer.

Each flow was packed with animations infused with Visa branding and paired with a custom logo, logotype, font, and seamless pattern

FUN FACT

Poland drinks the most beer per capita, but has never won a World Cup—while Germany has won the second most World Cups and drinks almost as much beer.
